There is a place of outstanding beauty on the north coast of Scotland, from Durness to the small community of Laid, an area so rich in minerals that the rocks glisten a rainbow of colours. This contrasts with the heavy colours and textures of the vegetation. The clarity of the light emphasises the colours and the sea varies in colour from bright turquoise to the deepest dark blue, which is contrasted by the beaches rich in a rust-coloured mineral called pegmatite. The technique I use was inspired by the different textures of the Scottish landscape and how it changes as light moves over it.
