The New Zealand pictures

A land rich in landscape from the acid-coloured pools of Rotorua to the soft purples and turquoise of the southern lakes. I travelled through both islands sketching and photographing this incredible country and collecting samples of wool to dye on my return. The light is so clear due to the lack of pollution and this emphasises the colours of nature. On my return from New Zealand I developed a new series of work using New Zealand Merino wool and started to simplify and abstract the landscape. My technique really comes into its own when translating its landscape colours and textures.
